ASTM A179 (ASME SA-179) covers seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for tubular heat exchangers, condensers and similar heat-transfer equipment, from ⅛ to 3 in outside diameter. Tubes are heat-treated after the final cold draw and tested for flattening, flaring, flanging and hardness (max. 72 HRB).
