At a glance
EN 10216-1 covers seamless non-alloy steel tubes for pressure purposes at room temperature, in grades P235TR1/TR2 and P265TR1/TR2. It replaced DIN 1629, whose grades St37.0, St44.0 and St52.0 are still quoted widely in the region. Dimensions follow EN 10220, formerly DIN 2448. St52.0 has no EN 10216-1 equivalent.

Documents
Mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1, naming the producing mill and the country of origin. Third-party inspection by an agency you nominate, or EN 10204 3.2, on request.
Packing and marking
Hexagonal bundles with steel straps, plastic end caps, a bundle tag (standard, size, heat number, pieces, weight) and stencil marking on each pipe.

TR1 or TR2?
TR1 grades have no specified impact properties. TR2 grades have specified impact energy and closer chemistry, and are the safer choice for pressure equipment.
Replacing St52.0
St52.0 (DIN 1629) has no counterpart in EN 10216-1. Designs that need its strength usually move to EN 10297-1 E355 (mechanical) or EN 10216-3 P355N (pressure). Check with the designer before substituting.
